An Old Course In South Dallas.

Located in Ferris, Texas, about an hour and a half up the highway, lies a golf course filled with hills an and trees. Old Brick Yard is a awesome course that has been around for a very long time. It features a top 10 hardest hole in Texas that curves around a lake.

Along with this being an old and scenic course, the community is always great too. Every time I have gone, the guy at the clubhouse is always super nice and will even give you a suspicious discount based on how much you tip. The people I have played with at this course are always friendly as well.

The course design is the definition of what a fun course layout is. The course starts with an uphill par four that rewards the golfer for taking a risky shot. Following that hole, there is a short par three where the golfer takes a shot from the top of a hill on to a small green. The views from this hole are awesome, as this part of DFW is hilly and sparsely populated.

The course feature hole is shown in this picture. It is a long par 5 that starts on the other side of this lake. Besides the fact that it is one of the hardest holes in Texas, I think it's also one of the most fun holes in Texas. There are so many ways the golfer could take this hole, all with different risks and rewards.

Along with fun holes, this course is also in very good shape for its age. Besides that carts, cart path, and clubhouse being noticeably old, the greens and fairways are in very great shape.

After playing this course this past week, I am contemplating many factors when it comes to rating it. Given the good condition and fun layout, I'm inclined to rate this course a 7/10. There are a few reasons that it falls short, some already mentioned. It's also important to note that this course is located right off of I-45. This causes the first few holes to sound like a Nascar event. It also located next to a dump that constantly has trucks going in and out, this causes the last few holes to be noisy. Overall, I love this course and it was great playing it.
