A Quick Play Located Two Hours Away From Waco

Image
Lake Park Golf Course, located in Lewisville, Texas, is a hidden gem that offers a great mix of challenge and fun for golfers of all skill levels. The course is a 9-hole, par 3 layout that’s perfect for a casual round, especially for those just getting into the game or looking to improve their short game. I recently played here with a couple of buddies, and we had a blast. When you drive into Lake Park, you immediately get a sense that this place is a bit different from your typical golf course. It has a very relaxed, community vibe—more like a neighborhood spot than a high-end resort. There’s no grand clubhouse or fancy carts here, but that’s part of the charm. The course is nestled by the scenic Lewisville Lake, and you’re greeted with views of the water and trees as soon as you step out of your car. It feels less like a commercial course and more like a well-kept secret that locals appreciate for its laid-back, friendly atmosphere. The course itself is relatively simple, but there’s...

A Quick Play in Waco

Image
Located north of the lake, in China Springs is Lake Waco golf course. Here there are two different courses, the 18 hole standard course, and the par 3 course. Today I played the par three course in a scramble with a few of my buddies.      The course is well known in Waco and has a very country vibe to it. The golfer drives in and is immediately hit with this feeling. It's not your standard fancy golf course with the clubhouse that looks like a white house, standard white carts, and fancy attire. This place has it's own Texas feel that adds a sense of excitement to the golfer. It feels similar to when one goes to a paintball range, or a gun range, or maybe a track outside of town. I got there and associated it with those special adventures that make life long memories.      The course it's self wasn't anything mind blowing, yet it was still loads of fun. The course is decently maintained with a few shortcoming. The flags wouldn't stay firm in ...

A Tight Course in D.F.W.

Image
Located on the edge of the two hours from Waco, is Plantation Golf Course, in Frisco, Texas. This course is a great location to test your skills and have a great time. The fee is about 40$ which makes it a pretty cheap course, something that the courses I play usually have in common.      The carts are in good shape and some of them even have speakers and coolers on them. The workers are super kind and they even give the golfer a discount sometimes. The range is in great shape but for a golfer like me with an occasional snap hook, it can be dangerous as to the left on the range is a major road.     Getting into the actual course, the golfer is first met with a very tight par four. it's not very long but it is very narrow. The tee boxes are in great shape and most of them have a ball cleaner and some water. The fairways are generally also in great shape and the rough isn't too bad. This course features many bunkers, requiring the golfer to hit...

A Challenging Course South of Dallas

Image
Country View is a golf course in Lancaster which is south of Dallas. This course is extremely special as it is like no other in the DFW metroplex. Rolling hills, deep forest, and the greenest grass in the state are all ways this course can be described. Not to mention the price is about 35$ which is way below average for a weekend tee time.      The course starts off with a long dog leg right par four, immediately asserting itself as a challenging course for the right handed. The green and tee box on this hole are in great condition and this usually holds true for most of the holes. Following this the golfer comes to a tight par 4 with an island green and tee box.     When I say island green, I'm not talking about it being surrounded in water, we don't get much of that in Texas. The green is more of a circle built on a mound about 20 feet above the usual ground level, this is how many of the tee boxes are built as well. This requires the golf...

A Three In One in North Dallas

Image
Located just short of two hours outside of Waco, is Fire Wheel golf course. This course is actually three courses, as it is more of a golf complex than a golf course. Each course is different in layout and terrain, but are all fairly similar in terms quality and difficulty. The most popular one and the one I will focus most on today is the Old Course.      This course runs through many neighborhoods of North Dallas and can get a little dangerous for the golfer that can't hit a straight ball. The ninth hole is a short par three with houses on either side. I have personally seen and allegedly been a part of a broken window on this hole. Leading up to this hole is a long underground tunnel, going beneath two properties which is something very rare at a golf course.          The picture shown above is on a par five on the back nine. It is clear that the greens are in good shape, as well as the surrounding fairways and roughs....

North Dallas course two hours from Waco.

Image
North of Dallas and a decent drive from Waco is Lake Park. This course is located on lake Lewisville and is one of the easiest rated golf courses. It features a 18 hole course as well as a nine hole par three course. It's most notable feature is that this nine hole course can be played at night, as there are lights on the course.      This course is where I learned how to play growing up, the par three not the 18 hole course. It is easier than most places and features only about two lakes, making it very hard to lose a ball. On top of that the course has bout 5 trees on the property and not a bush in sight, so there is no out of bounds anywhere.          Most of the pictures online are not resembling of how the course looks at all. This picture is green and blue water is present in the back. Lake Park looks nothing like this. The grass is usually torn up and brown, the greens are usually sandy and not well kept, and the water s...

An Old Course In South Dallas.

Image
Located in Ferris, Texas, about an hour and a half up the highway, lies a golf course filled with hills an and trees. Old Brick Yard is a awesome course that has been around for a very long time. It features a top 10 hardest hole in Texas that curves around a lake.        Along with this being an old and scenic course, the community is always great too. Every time I have gone, the guy at the clubhouse is always super nice and will even give you a suspicious discount based on how much you tip. The people I have played with at this course are always friendly as well.      The course design is the definition of what a fun course layout is. The course starts with an uphill par four that rewards the golfer for taking a risky shot. Following that hole, there is a short par three where the golfer takes a shot from the top of a hill on to a small green. The views from this hole are awesome, as this part of DFW is hilly and sparsely populat...
