A Challenging Course South of Dallas
Country View is a golf course in Lancaster which is south of Dallas. This course is extremely special as it is like no other in the DFW metroplex. Rolling hills, deep forest, and the greenest grass in the state are all ways this course can be described. Not to mention the price is about 35$ which is way below average for a weekend tee time.
The picture above shows how awesome this place is, so green and so well maintained. This course is great for the casual golfer as it is challenging and doesn't break the bank. Just make sure to bring a ton of balls as you might lose a lot. This is because this course has a lot of water, and thick forests on many of the holes.
The course starts off with a long dog leg right par four, immediately asserting itself as a challenging course for the right handed. The green and tee box on this hole are in great condition and this usually holds true for most of the holes. Following this the golfer comes to a tight par 4 with an island green and tee box.
When I say island green, I'm not talking about it being surrounded in water, we don't get much of that in Texas. The green is more of a circle built on a mound about 20 feet above the usual ground level, this is how many of the tee boxes are built as well. This requires the golfer to hit extremely precise shots. If on the approach(for a tour player this should be their second shot) the golfer misses the green short or long, they will be required to hit a very high-lofted shot to get their ball to get up on the green and stop. This is one of the more challenging shots for the golfer to hit, especially for high handicappers. Faliure to do this will result in the golfer dancing around the green, hitting over and over and over the green until they finally get lucky.

This course falls short in a few areas. First of all it is maybe too hard, I think I shot the worse score of my life here. Second of all it is crowded, this tends to be a common thing in fairly priced courses, as nobody wants to pay double for a course that is not even as good as this one. Third is there are lots of bugs and mosquitoes on this course.
I would rate this course a 9/10. I'm not saying you should go out there and expect Augusta type greens and fairways, but this is an insane bang for your buck. 35$ is what Battle lake in Waco charges on a weekend, same as Country View, except Battle Lake is horribly maintained. If you're in the area and have some free time, I would 100% recommend playing this course.
